When the sun is up the Tatra mountains look like a huge stone embellished with small glistening pearls. In this picturesque part of Poland there is a lot of beautiful lakes. One of them, Morskie Oko (Sea Eye) is a must for those of you who love watching and photographing stunning mountain landscapes. If you're planning to stay overnight in Zakopane, One of Poland's most popular tourist towns, it will take a couple of hours to walk to Morskie Oko on foot. When you're already there and you see the crystal clear dark-blue water surface reflexing the sharp edges of the rocks and the astonished faces of the tourists you'll forget about the overwhelming tiredness and your swollen legs. Morskie Oko has inspired thousands of painters, photographers, poets and other artists. It's a view you'll never forget.

So for 800 caves have been discovered in the Tatra mountains. If you find the Indiana Jones movies fascinating and you've always dreamt of experiencing an exciting adventure that no-one has ever heard of before you should explore the underground secrets of the Tatra mountains. Cień Księżyca (pl. Moonshadow), the longest cave (30 500 meters long) in the mountains and Jaskinia Wielka Śnieżna (pl. Great Snow Cave), the deepest cave in the area are full of mysteries and undiscovered geological phenomena.

Foggy weather is common in the Tatra Mountains. When you're hiking you might see a so-called Brocken spectre which is your own shadow reflected in fog or a cloud. In the past Brocken spectre was believed to be an ominous sign. You don't need to be afraid, this peculiar illusion has been seen by many tourists and Brocken spectre appears to be a legend.

If you like climbing you'll have a lot of things to do in the Tatra mountains. There are 92 mountain tops and Kasprowy Wierch is considered as one of the most beautiful ones. If you haven't bought a pair of good hiking boots you can take a cable car ride and admire Kasprowy Wierch without putting your legs to the test.

All hiking enthusiasts will fall in love with Giewont, one of the most well-known and popular mountain massifs in the Tatra mountains. Sit down for a while and look at all the distant mountain tops towering above you like massive stone giants. In winter the mountains turn into a skiing paradise where you can choose between many ski tracks, go for a cable car ride, book a room in a nice hotel and admire the snow-covered Tatra mountains from a sunny balcony.

How do you get to the astonishing Tatra mountains? It's as easy as pie: take the plane to Kraków or Katowice and rent a car at the airport.
