About 150 meters from the central station in Gdynia there is a place known in the whole Tricity. On the local market you can see Polish everyday life in its old-fashioned form: people chatting with the salesmen, walking around the stalls and sometimes even haggling!

The market is divided in different areas. The most picturesque one is probably the vegetable and fruit market. Here you will only find fresh products and seeing all those wonderful colours is pure pleasure.

If you just go down the street you'll find flower stalls. Most of them are alive, but you can find some artificial ones here and there. The flower offer depends on the season of course.

Inside the roofed part of the market you will find meat salesmen. Stop by and see all the fantastic Polish sausages and watch butchers at work.

There is a fish hall in another building. You can find almost any kind of fish here, both wild and farm-bred ones, for example: cods, herrings, salmons and halibuts.

A word of advice: buying sheepskin here is a great idea. In other countries it's usually an expensive product, whereas here on the market you can buy big and soft pieces for a third of the British price!

Please note that the market is open from 7 to 18 during workdays (many salesmen, however, start packing already at 3 o'clock) and from 8 to 14 on Saturdays (it's closed on Sundays).

Here is o couple of pictures from a cooking show performed by Malika - one of the best cooks in the region of Gdynia (you can see a big part of the market):
